We Couldn't Do It Without The Help Of Our Partners

KidSport™ Calgary and KidSport™ Alberta would like to thank all our community partners for their contribution to our charity which helps ensure more kids get to participate in organized sport and play the games they love.

Local Supporters

KidSport Calgary is very excited to have Calgary Co-op as a continuing partner since 2009. This locally owned and operated business will be aiding in the distribution of KidSport Calgary applications. The applications are available at customer service in all Calgary Co-op food centre locations, including Airdrie and Strathmore.

KidSport Calgary is proud to have been the recipient of the 7th Annual Clark Builders Charity Golf Classic. Held in June 2009, the event raised over $50,000 for KidSport Calgary to help local Calgary kids pursue their dreams in sport. Clark Builders is a local general contracting company with offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Yellowknife and were recently names one of Canada's Top 50 Best Managed Companies (2008). Clark Builders is committed to the local community in which it operates and this event helped increase the awareness of our service.

Calgary Stampeders

The 2009 Stamps/KidSport Mini-Camp will be held on June 6 at McMahon Stadium.

The Stamps/KidSport Mini-Camp was introduced in 2008 and provided KidSport children and families with a unique football experience at no cost. Last year's event featured Stamps rookie players and 100 youth from KidSport. The kids participated in several football-related drills, were given a locker-room tour and were then provided with a pair of tickets to a Stamps home game.

The Calgary Flames are proud to partner with the National Hockey Leauge Officials Association (NHLOA) and KidSport Calgary in the NHL Community program called Zebras Care. This will provide a positive experience for many underprivledged children in NHL communities and KidSport Calgary is proud to be a part of it here in Calgary. KidSport Calgary has partnered in this program by provideing the luck child who will participate in the meet and greet. Meet and greets occur once a month throughout the regular season. Each of the aprticipants will arrive early for the game and be escorted down to the event level to meet and game NHL officials. Each child will be give two tickets and a Calgary Flames Jersey.

 Jarome Iginla

Jarome Iginla has been an important and valued supporter of the KidSport program in Calgary through his commitment to our cause over the past six hockey seasons. Iginala began assisting KidSport Calgary with a generous donation of $1,000 per goal during the 2000/01 season. His commitment resulted in an initial contribution of $31,000 in support of low-income children in minor hockey and a variety of other sports.

His ongoing financial involvement - each time he scores a goal - and high progile has helped establish our organization and his community spirit embodies the attributes of personal excellence and commitement that KidSport identifies with. Iginla's goal scoring contributions assisted over 150 kids in 2008 through his personal donation of $37,000.

KidSport Calgary has had a special working relationship for many years with the Flames Evenstrength Program and Hockey Calgary. This partnership was designed to help address the higher cost of registration for hockey programs, which ultimately prevents many local children from participating in the sport.

Through a combined effort, we are able to provide hundreds of local kids with the opportunity to participate in minor hockey programs each winter. This partnership has become an important component of the annual KidSport program, and helps keep minor hockey programs accessible to kids from low - income families. .

Soccer represents one of the largest sport segments funded through the KidSport Calgary program each year, contributing to approximately one-third of our annual funding distribution. As a cost-effective and accessible sport, soccer continues to grow in popularity and KidSport Calgary is pleased to have a strong alliance with the Calgary Minor Soccer Association. With the support of local teams, the Calgary Minor Soccer Association helps to raise integral funding to support low-income kids in soccer programs, and has provided positive sport experiences to more than 528 local kids in 2008.

  ULS

The Skate Shack program is now in its 10th year and continues to bring valuable skating experiences for many children and adults, including some who are just learning to skate. The Skate Shack is a trailer that holds over 400 pairs of skates and is used by many schools and community groups at no cost.  Following the success of the Skate Shack, it was a natural progression for KidSport™ Calgary to develop the Summer Shack, which was launched in July 2008. The Summer Shack houses recreational family-themed sports and activity equipment, ranging from hula hoops, mini golf, a variety of sports balls and even a giant parachute!  KidSport™ Calgary would like to thank ULS Maintenance & Landscaping for the time they have taken to ensure that each shack reaches its community destination for ALL children and families to play.

Supreme Basics Logo

The First Down for Kids program posted another championship year in 2008 to match the Calgary Stampeders’ Grey Cup winning season. The initiative, launched with the  Calgary Stampeder Football Club in 2007, is a unique way to raise money in support of low income kids wanting to participate in sport. This year, Supreme Basics will donate $10 to KidSport™ Calgary for every yard running back Joffrey Reynolds gained during the regular season as well as upping the ante to $100 for every touchdown. In 2008, this initiative generated $15,000 to support kids in local football programs for a combined total of $30,000 in only two years! We look forward to another great season.
